Dear Friends,

I am grateful to be in your world and I am grateful that you are in mine.

As we move into the last handful days of 2007, the Holidays fully upon us, I ask that you remember those things, big and small, for which you are grateful.

I ask that you pause to remember the bounty in your life. I ask you to appreciate those places where you are full, and recognize the potential for 2008.

I am grateful for so much that’s happened this year, more than I could have imagined. And, Frank and I are very grateful for your support, encouragement, suggestions, reprimands, jousting, honesty, and faith.

We are grateful for the opportunity to build a business that does good work, gathers community, and facilitates possibilities.

And we are grateful for the slogan that arose spontaneously during one of our workshops—Divas Don’t Do Perfect!

So as the craziness of the Holidays pulls and pushes and squeezes you, and you fret, frantic in worrying:
—How am I going to get everything done for everyone else?
—How can I be the perfect mother, perfect wife, perfect daughter, perfect neighbor…?
—How am I going to meet those endless expectations—The house! The decorations. The baking!

As you grind your teeth wondering How am I going to…?  I say, “You’re not!”

Divas Don’t Do Perfect, because perfect can’t be done, and perfect certainly is no fun.”

I ask you, again, as I did at Thanksgiving, to recognize and embrace what’s important. Be grateful for what’s dear.

What we find dear is there before you and before me, and is evident in and through our relationships—family, friends, the unexpected company, the being-with-at-the-table-with-others.

This is the richness of living. Breaking bread. Raising a glass.

Divas we’re going to finish out the year and take on 2008 by remembering that perfect blinds us. Chasing the perfect we spiral down, down, down, and the world becomes dark and our hearts become heavy.

Divas Don’t Do Perfect; Divas Do Passion.

While the Holiday Season taxes many of us more than the usual, and we may be unsure about the future, remember, Divas don't do perfect.

Divas know who they are.

Divas know why the passions in their lives make life rich. Divas realize the day-to-day is perfectly imperfect!

Divas Don’t Do Perfect; Divas Do Passion.

Hold your loved one’s hand. Hug your neighbor. Serve your food. Sing your song.

With warmth and joy,
Leanne
